Josh: Kayla and I met at Richmond Football Club where we both worked at the time. When I met Kayla I initially thought she was American (she had an accent after spending time overseas). This was in 2018 around the end of August. We didn’t speak much during the first few weeks as we worked in different areas of the club, but had a spark at an end of season work event a couple of weeks later. The spark involved me repeatedly (allegedly) finding Kayla on the dancefloor and proceeding to impress her with my dance moves….
Kayla: Josh came over to me 3 times at different points throughout the night, and started to realise it was more than a coincidence. I was pretty new and was just trying to ‘be normal’ in a social setting but he managed to make that night one of the best nights out due to the sheer amount of laughs we had.
Kayla: I knew pretty early on that Josh and I were going to be the real deal after a couple of weeks, I think at this point in my life I knew what type of person I wanted and Josh got there soon after (thankfully!). We became ‘official’ boyfriend and girlfriend start of December and didn’t look back, moved in with each other a couple of months later, went on trips together, survived a pandemic and then Josh popped the question 2.5 yrs later.
Josh: I booked a weekend away down in Red Hill November 2021 and Kayla wouldn’t stop asking questions!! We were in the middle of the pandemic and it’s not as easy to hide when we were in lockdowns, so I tried my best to keep it a secret but as it was one of the first weekends we were free out of lockdowns, I was able to disguise it as a trip out of our bubble. I had bought a ring (Kayla: and he did a very good job in choosing, too!) and had it sent to Aidan (Groomsman) knowing that Kayla would probably accidentally find it if I hid it at home as we only lived in a small 2 bdr unit. We ordered pizza from Sorrento and I had pre-planned going to a beach called Diamond Bay which was off a little dirt road.
Kayla: Again, none of these details were shared with me… )
Josh: Amazingly we had the whole beach to ourselves, however I wanted to watch the sunset and propose on the cliff top but had to jump over a ‘No Entry allowed’ fence to get there. Kayla kept saying “Josh we can’t be here! You’re a cop!” but alas, we jumped the fence and after I proposed she was a bit more okay with it. I popped the question, she said yes (Kayla: I was so happy that I forgot to actually say “yes” for a moment there, so Josh was awkwardly holding the ring and I was awkwardly waiting for it to be put on my finger until I remembered (oops)). We ate pizza, had some champagne and watched the sunset together.
Kayla: Your typical romantic story, it was perfect and exactly ‘us’. It was like Josh had ordered the beach to be dead quiet, the sunset to be perfect, the weather to have no wind but it sums Josh up – thoughtful and a quiet achiever. (There were no people around too which is exactly what we wanted – we both aren’t fans of public attention and in these situations Josh can remain cool/calm/collected (but internally dying) whereas Kayla is dying and everyone can see it).
We spent the night by ourselves, enjoying the moment and after breakfast the next morning, we let our families and friends know the news. This was also a memorable part of our proposal, sharing the exciting news with our loved ones when we were ready and seeing how happy they were for us. We have so many memories from this weekend.
Getting married. We were so excited for this day & it was perfect. Seeing most of our loved ones in one spot was also emotional. We hadn’t seen a lot of family & some friends due to COVID so this was really special. Our ceremony, particularly seeing each other for the first time was magical. Followed closely by our first dance which went much better than we expected. We really enjoyed our whole day: Bridal party speeches – our groomsmen & bridesmaids/man nailed these & did not leave a dry eye! The party & the dance floor to finish. So much fun!
Who else helped bring your day together?
Our families & lovely bridal party for getting the property ready, doing the ad hoc tasks & supporting us during our wedding weekend to ensure the reception in the marquee & ceremony area was dry! We knew the week of the wedding was going to be busiest for a private property wedding but the non stop rain (very unusual for this time of year) leading into our wedding day made it trickier & required 4 truck loads of mulch shovelled in the pouring rain for the marquee /floor to be set up on but it came together! We cannot thank everyone who helped out that week!
Nanna Joan & Nanna Pat for being our “Flower Nans” & making the walk down the aisle. This was pretty special for Kayla.
Georgia – our on the day coordinator was fabulous & troubleshooted everything. Our day was so seamless and couldn’t tell you what went wrong as she had it all under control! (I’m sure some things went wrong haha!!)
As a Gippsland wedding photographer, private property and country farm weddings are honestly my favourite. There is something so special and deeply personal about couples who choose to get married on their own land, surrounded by the people they love most. If you’re planning a Gippsland wedding and looking for a photographer who will blend in, keep things relaxed and capture every real moment — I’d love to hear from you!
A day full of so much love, laughter, and the best kind of energy at @middlemanfunctions in Scoresby - exactly how these two always said they wanted it. Fun, relaxed, and just really them.
From Taylah walking down the aisle and seeing Mitch’s reaction (hands down the moment of the day 🥹), to a dance floor that didn’t take itself too seriously, it was one of those weddings where everyone just felt completely at ease.
And now they’re stepping into this next chapter already growing their little family which makes it all feel even more special <3
An absolute dream crew to photograph - so much warmth, so much ease, and Mitch + the boys were total legends 😄 I’m still laughing at how quickly everyone relaxed in front of the camera
A beautiful day with beautiful people - I feel so lucky to have been there to capture it.
The most perfect May day down at Phillip Island WInery - 26 degrees, not a breath of wind, and that incredible ocean backdrop.
These two are just… easy. So sweet, so relaxed, and such a joy to be around. The whole day felt calm in the best kind of way.
But truly it was Lilly (their retired greyhound) who featured as the star of the show. Super chill and just wanting all the snacks and pats!
And then as a surprise for the couple, some guests had rocked up with temporary tattoos of Erin and Nik AND some of Lilly too… which honestly just took things to another level!
Such a good day with the loveliest people! The perfect way to head into a few weeks break and catch up on allll my other sneak peeks! <3
Steph + Josh (and their beautiful bub to be!) // @toolshednoojee
Earlier this month I spent the day with these two absolutely beautiful humans, surrounded by their nearest and dearest.
It really was the sweetest celebration — the love between them both (and for their little one on the way) was so evident in every moment.
Afterwards, Steph sent me the most beautiful review and I was honestly welling up reading it…
“I honestly cannot be happier with Kayla`s efforts on our special day. She was so kind, professional and made me and my new husband feel totally at ease taking photos. I normally hate photos of myself being taken and was worried I`d hate the photos no matter what, but when I saw just the sneak peeks, I cried. I have never had anyone capture what I felt was truly me. She nailed the vibe and the day and everything that is special between me and my husband. Kayla, thank you so so much for all your effort and kindness on the day, your communication leading up to the day and everything else you have done for us.”
I’M NOT CRYING, YOU’RE CRYING!!!!
Congrats you two - I can’t wait to hear about bub’s arrival <3
Sam + Rachel at @swallowfieldvineyards - what a day to remember!
From the moment Rachel walked down the stairs, to Sam’s heartfelt tears during his vows, the day was overflowing with love, laughter, and those perfectly messy, joyful moments that make a wedding truly theirs.
The epic dances of the night were unforgettable — a nod to how they met at dance class (even if Sam doesn’t quite remember!) — and the energy from their guests kept the celebration lively from start to finish.
It was so special seeing familiar faces again — Nathaniel + Charlotte and their adorable children — and feeling that beautiful family connection continue to grow.
Their love story is something else: Sam proposed in Bali at sunset, navigating quad bikes, hospital stitches, and perfectly orchestrated surprises just to see Rachel’s smile — the kind you could watch on repeat forever.
A fun, heartfelt, and utterly personal celebration, full of laughter, tears, and everything in between. I feel so lucky to have captured every moment of this beautiful day.
Last weekend at @cptnjacks on the harbour in Sommerville with Teash + James
These two first met at work back in 2017 — a love story that quietly grew through team chats, emails, and the long drives to meetings. What started as everyday workdays slowly turned into something much bigger.
Their engagement almost happened on the Sunshine Coast… until travel restrictions changed the plan. Instead, James proposed on Arthurs Seat, in front of their kids — a moment that ended up being even more meaningful than the original idea.
At the heart of the day was their beautiful blended family, all brought together with their sweet little boy Larkin — the thread tying everyone together and a reminder of just how much love sits at the centre of their story.
Their wedding felt just like them: beautiful, fun, and full of personality. The kind of celebration where laughter sits right alongside the heartfelt moments.
And in true “let’s make this day unforgettable” fashion, they even got matching tattoos from @treehaventattoo during the reception — James’ very first tattoo, permanently marking the day they became husband and wife <3
Yesterday at @alowyngardens in the Yarra Valley, these two officially became husband and wife.
The sweetest couple, with their little sidekicks Harley and Nudge (the very charming border collie) coming dangerously close to stealing the spotlight more than once!
An energetic wedding party kept the whole day buzzing — including the groomsmen’s iconic aisle entrance as the “Beer Boys,” launching beers into the crowd so guests could sip along during the ceremony. Equal parts hilarious and unforgettable.
Fun, sweet, and just the right amount of beautifully chaotic energy, this was a celebration full of personality, big love, and the kind of joy you could feel in every moment ❤️
Awesome team of: @aaronpalmer_celebrant @jayharrisdj @gimme.bts @alowyngardens @uniquediamondsaus @kelseymareehair @mrsbarkers
Ella + Brad’s wedding yesterday was at @theshearingshed, Phillip Island — one of my all-time favourite places to photograph!
A genuinely gorgeous couple, held so closely by their fave people. A wedding party who adored them, heartfelt words that landed deep, proud parents high-fiving each other mid-celebration, and that rare, perfect Summer weather - not too hot, beautiful sunshine and a divine evening.
Fun, vibrant, and full of love from start to finish, before we slipped away to the beach cliffs at sunset. Just Ella and Brad, the sea air, soft light, and a quiet moment together before embarking on the party on the dancefloor when we got back! <3
What a sweet start to the year yesterday was (Yes I took alllll of January off!! Soo good!!) with Juliet + Ryan at @inglewoodestate and my new friend @alanawithlovecelebrant
Clear skies and bright sunshine, hot in the afternoon sun, set the scene for a beautiful celebration with their family and friends, many who had travelled from overseas while @joshsperring_entertainment entertained them all evening.
It was a day filled with quiet moments, big love, and the kind of joy that settles in and stays ❤️
Yesterday was an absolute dream in Arawata, South Gippsland.
There’s something pretty special about photographing a wedding in a place that holds so much family history. Piper’s family has deep connections there, and friends and family even travelled down from Queensland to be part of it. The ceremony was held in the same little church where Piper’s parents were married, which made it all the more meaningful.
Both families were so genuinely kind and welcoming, and their sweet dog Sansa did her best to steal the show whenever she could.
The weather was meant to be terrible, but thanks to an old wives’ tale and a couple of sausages buried in the ground, we ended up with only the lightest drizzle and a whole lot of luck. It didn’t affect a thing — everyone enjoyed lawn games, drinks outside the Arawata Hall, and then we were treated to the most incredible sunset. Some lovely neighbours even let us use their paddock for photos, which was such a gift.
Kate from @heyloversxo was the powerhouse behind bringing Piper’s vision to life, and did an incredible job of keeping everything running smoothly.
One of my favourite details was Piper’s dad giving people tractor rides, something the family used to do when the kids and cousins were little. It was such a nostalgic, joyful touch to an already beautiful day.
What a ripper night. The dancefloor was still going strong when I left, and I’m officially convinced that burying sausages might be the ultimate wedding hack!! ❤️
A decade of love, laughter, and adventures across the world, brought these two to the moment of beginning their next chapter in the most intimate and heartfelt way — a micro wedding with just nine of their closest people, surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of Broughton Gardens in Jindivick.
With the rolling hills of Gippsland as their backdrop and spring blooms including cherry blossoms all around in the gardens, they said “I do” on the exact day they met, ten years ago. It was quiet, meaningful, and full of the kind of joy that lingers long after the last toast is made.
Sometimes, the smallest gatherings hold the greatest love — and this day was nothing short of magic.
Congrats M+M - here`s to many more decades of sweet happiness ❤️
Nath & Bec’s wedding at the beautiful Carlei Estate Winery was one of those days that just fills your heart right up.
It was my first wedding back for the season and the forecast had us all thinking we’d be blown away with rain and crazy winds… but instead we got soft little showers, golden light sneaking through, and the most incredible sunset to wrap up the day. Honestly, we couldn’t have been luckier!
With just 35 of their nearest and dearest, the whole vibe was relaxed, fun, and full of those little moments that remind you what weddings are all about — laughter, happy tears, and so much love.
And of course, I’ve got to shout out Carlei Estate. Nat and her team are absolute gems — they always go above and beyond for their couples (and us suppliers too) and it honestly makes days like this run so beautifully.
Happy first day of marriage, Bec + Nath — here’s to all the adventures still to come!
Some wedding days just feel magical, and Maddi & Ty’s autumn wedding by the Dargo River was exactly that. 🍂
They said their vows in one of their favourite spots, with their amazing celebrant Rachael from @theivyaisle_msra.chael weaving in little touches of Viking tradition that made the ceremony so personal and special.
During the group photo, they surprised everyone with the happiest news… they’re expecting their first baby! The cheers and happy tears were such a beautiful moment.
Later that night at the reception, Ty — aka @DJYeeHawaus — serenaded Maddi with a song he’d written just for her. It was one of those moments that makes your heart full and your eyes watery at the same time.
From vows to surprises to love-filled music, their day was just overflowing with joy. So grateful I got to capture it all.
I`m still smiling after this gorgeous little wedding at @dromanaestateweddings on Saturday — a small gathering of their nearest and dearest, and honestly, it couldn’t have been more perfect.
The Autumn colours in the vines were showing off, the May sunshine was kind, and everything felt warm and full of love 🍂
There’s something so special about smaller weddings — less fuss, more connection, and all the space to just soak it in. The laughter, the tears, the golden light… magic. ✨
Here is a little peek at Alex + Henry`s day - and that beautiful first sunset they got to watch as husband and wife. Here`s to many more amazing sunsets! <3
"Kayla was extremely professional throughout the whole process, but also has a very personal touch. We felt so comfortable straight away.
The photos are amazing, we are so in love with them! You captured the day so perfectly, and every time we look through them, we’re reliving it all over again which we love!!
We feel so lucky to have had you as our photographer. These photos mean the world to us, and we’ll cherish them forever.
Kayla went above and beyond, we highly recommend using her services at your event, she’s a star!"
It`s always so special hearing how much you guys love your photos when you get them all back 🥰

Golden light pouring over the vines, a gentle breeze carrying laughter across the hills, and the kind of love that makes you believe in forever — that was Christal + Sam`s wedding day at @massaros_yarravalley Nestled in the heart of the Yarra Valley, Massaros set the perfect stage for a celebration that was both elegant and joyfully down-to-earth. From the beautiful gardens to the rolling vineyard views at sunset, every corner felt like a dream. These two wanted a relaxed day surrounded by their favourite people, good wine, and even better food — and they absolutely nailed it. Their ceremony was full of heartfelt words and happy tears, followed by a reception that was equal parts laughter, dancing, and fun. One of my favourite moments? Just after the sun dipped behind the hills, we snuck away into the vines for some golden hour portraits. The way Sam looked at Christal, like he’d already won the lottery, was pure magic. Weddings like this one are a reminder that it’s not about the fluff — it’s about connection, intention, and choosing to celebrate your love in a way that feels true to you. Christal + Sam, thank you for letting me be a part of your beautiful day. Massaros, you never disappoint — and neither does that golden valley light. 🍷💫
Some moments just hit differently, and this was one of them.
The second Callum saw Jess walking down the aisle, every emotion spilled out—tears in his eyes, the biggest smile, and that look of pure, overwhelming love. You could see him trying to hold it together, but there was no stopping it. And honestly, why would you?
Weddings are full of beautiful moments, but this? This was so beautiful. I even found my own eyes prickling at his sweet reaction to seeing his wife to be. The kind of reaction that makes you feel just how deep their love runs. A love that’s real, raw, and absolutely unforgettable <3
